Tadhg came to us from the Weaver family in Ohio, long-time breeders of old Black & Tan lines. He is a 1st Generation Naturally Reared dog.
An Irish/Scottish Gaelic name, Tadhg (pronounced tyg, like tiger without the –er) means “poet or storyteller”. Being a very vocal pup, his name fits his personality!
A striking Tricolor boy with beautiful and correct structure, he has a nice balance of confidence and caution. Not much rattles him… he just stops and thinks. Also, Tadhg loves eye contact and has great focus, he’s learning quickly with the clicker and Puppy Culture protocols! Our Sheppie girls like him and are teaching him good dog social skills.
From parents known for their social and easygoing nature, Tadhg is sweet and affectionate wanting to be near, very oral (he is much like a baby shark right now!), social with new people and dogs, and settles readily but must somehow be touching our feet. He simply adores the barn cats (and they him!), is interested yet cautious of the livestock thus far, is a natural heeler, and walks beautifully on loose leash.
As serendipity would have it, Tadhg took his first steps toward us on the same day we lost our beloved Fahey. He has large paws to fill. Undoubtedly he will make his own unique indelible mark on our hearts. We’re so grateful to have this special boy at the ranch and look forward to watching him mature!
