We believe that breeding dogs is not a right, but a true privilege. As such there are compelling responsibilities upon anyone who undertakes to do so, including thoughtful breed stewardship. As stewards of the English Shepherd, we are honored to add to their advancement and ensure that the life of our dogs are filled with family, love, health, and the chance to enjoy what an English Shepherd was bred for- whether working cattle, herding sheep, watching over the children, hunting varmints, or exploring the world in the company of their master.

Our goal is to reproduce dogs with the wonderful temperament and working characteristics that have made the English Shepherd irreplaceable for so many decades.

What makes Highland Glenn different? Our breeding philosophy goes far deeper than appearance, pedigree, and working or show titles- it reaches to the very core of natural health for future generations. As Natural Rearing Breeders the foundation of our breeding program focuses on optimal nutrition and health: feeding a Species Appropriate Raw diet, no exposure to chemicals and toxins, vaccine free (except as compulsory by law), and utilizing various natural health care modalities when possible.

We work to better the beloved English Shepherd by breeding for stable temperament and placing an emphasis on soundness in health and structure all to reproduce the classic ES: a versatile, multi-purpose family dog with a special spark of vitality. In addition, we have chosen to surpass most breeding programs in the care provided to our growing Puppies.

It’s been said that it takes three to five generations of un-vaccinated dogs to cleanse the damage done by over-vaccination; to clear the immune slate as it were. This is our mission at Highland Glenn English Shepherds.

As members of the Natural Rearing Breeders Association (NRBA), we are delighted to be in the company of countless breeders with the same natural health goals for their breeds. Members in good standing with the English Shepherd Club and NRBA, we adhere to their respective Code of Ethics.

“One’s philosophy is not best expressed in words; it’s expressed in the choices one makes. In the long run we shape our lives and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our responsibility.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
