Yes it’s that time of year! Lately, I find my mind wandering to spring planting of the kitchen garden, my mouth watering at the thought of the many heirloom vegetables to come. Of course, the seed catalogs arriving in the mail each week only encourage such dreaming and scheming!

This list is the companies I usually order from and have for years. Of course they all have online catalogs! I especially recommend Baker Creek for their dedication to preserving old heirloom varieties and commitment to making sure their seed is non-GMO. I’ve been ordering from them for some 19 years.

Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds: rare heirlooms from around the world.
Territorial Seed Company: most of their varieties do well in the PNW.
Nichol’s Garden Nursery: nice variety of flower seed, too.
Horizon Herbs: all things herbs, mostly medicinal but culinary too.
Peaceful Valley Farm Supply: mostly organic seed and open-pollinated varieties.

Happy garden dreams!
